Stop collecting steps.

For dancersBy Dawou Tarraxo

  1. A long vocabulary does not guarantee a real conversation.
  2. First understand your axis.
  3. Then your weight transfer.
  4. Then the information exchanged with your partner.
  5. A figure without understanding disappears under pressure.
  6. A principle can create a thousand movements.

Stop collecting Kizomba steps. A long vocabulary is not a conversation.

A long vocabulary does not guarantee a real conversation. I have watched dancers with fifty figures fall apart the moment the music changed, because a figure without understanding disappears under pressure.

First understand your axis. Then your weight transfer. Then the information you exchange with your partner. A principle can create a thousand movements. A memorised figure creates one, and only when conditions are perfect.

Pick one figure you already dance and find the axis and the weight transfer inside it.

Principles travel across Kizomba, Tarraxo and UrbanKiz. Figures do not.
